Mustafa Suleyman

Suleyman co-founded DeepMind in 2010 with Demis Hassabis and Shane Legg, leading its applied and policy work until it was acquired by Google, where he later held product roles. In 2022 he co-founded Inflection AI, building the Pi personal assistant.

In 2024 Microsoft hired Suleyman to lead the newly formed Microsoft AI division, in an arrangement that brought much of Inflection's team with him. He oversees consumer AI products including Copilot and Microsoft's effort to build its own frontier models, reducing sole reliance on OpenAI.

A prominent author and commentator — his book The Coming Wave analyzes AI's societal impact — Suleyman occupies a pivotal role as Microsoft balances its OpenAI partnership with growing in-house AI ambitions.
