TPPI: Production Price Index
Token prices for the production tier across labs: the models sold for volume work, such as Sonnet, Haiku, Luna, Flash, Gemma, Llama and Qwen Flash. Frontier flagships are excluded because their posted prices have converged; the production tier is where labs compete on price. Membership is a published list of named tiers, reviewed monthly, never a price band.
Latest settled day 2026-10-03. Two kinds of number, because they answer different questions. The price index starts at 100 and moves only when a member model changes its price: it answers "are labs cutting prices?". The average price paid is the usage-weighted blended price, the same formula as TTPI: it also falls when developers move traffic to cheaper models, so it answers "what does the market actually spend per token?".
Price index
The price index covers closed-weight models, whose list prices change only when a lab announces a change. Open-weight models are left out of it: their price is whichever host is cheapest that day, so it swings daily as hosts compete, and would bury lab price changes under host churn. An open-weight index will follow once open models are priced across all their hosts. The average price paid covers both.

Each lab's named tiers below its flagship, plus general-purpose open-weight lines. Every generation of a listed family is included. The list is reviewed monthly and any change ships as a new methodology version.
