Greg Brockman

Brockman studied briefly at Harvard and MIT before joining the payments startup Stripe, where he became chief technology officer and helped scale its engineering organization. In 2015 he co-founded OpenAI and became its CTO and later chairman and president.

He has focused on the systems and infrastructure side of frontier AI — the large-scale training runs, supercomputing partnerships, and engineering culture that turned research ideas into shipped products. He took an extended leave in 2024 and returned to a hands-on technical leadership role.

As one of the few founders still at OpenAI, Brockman is a stabilizing presence and a key figure in its compute and infrastructure strategy, including the buildout of the massive clusters underpinning the company's model roadmap.
